The Arkansas Community Action Agencies Association (ACAAA) Board of Directors is having a two-day board meeting/training session on September 20-21, at the Arkansas Food Bank, 4301 West 65th Street, in Little Rock.
On Tuesday, September 20, there will be a special training session: Fiscal Training: “Aiming for Awesome Audits” training from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. • Do you have a difficult time preparing for the year-end financial statement audit? Do you find it difficult to provide information requested by the independent auditor? Does it seem to take a long time to finalize the audit and receive your report? How should your board’s audit committee be involved in the audit process? And finally what does your organization’s auditor use as a guide when auditing major programs? This session will help you find ways to identify areas for improvement in your organization’s audit process. Familiarize yourself with the role of the audit committee and get an overview of the Single Audit Compliance Supplement, the guide your auditor should (must) be using to audit your federal programs, so you will know what they should and should not be doing. • Our presenter, Michael Emerson, is Director of Finance with DHS Division of County Operations. His experience has included primary audit responsibilities for financial institutions, agricultural cooperatives, food service companies, and industrial supply companies. He has also taught as an Assistant Professor of Business at Harding University and ASU Beebe.
A full Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; that will be followed by a Legislative Committee meeting from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Also on Wednesday, there is an online Fiscal Affiliate Meeting being held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
